Belle was selected as 1 of the 32 PhD students around Thailand to receive the prestigious Royal Golden Jubilee PhD scholarship in the natural science category. This scholarship will support her study on the growth of novel semiconductor monolayers.

Our group received a research fund from Thailand Toray Science Foundation (https://www.ttsf.or.th/en/winner-listing/st-research-grant-2024/). Thank you to the selection committee for choosing our proposal. Our team will ensure that this grant is used effectively to advance foundational and impactful research in Thailand. 

We and other members of the MSE school at VISTEC showcase our school's research at VISTEC Roadshow 2024. Look forward to many applications from prospective students to join our school.

Thank you to the two speakers from Chulalongkorn University. We learned a lot about colloidal quantum dots for CO2R reaction from Assoc. Prof. Junjuda Unruangsri and the molecular design of organic chiral emitters from Dr. Phongphak Chidchob.  

It is time to say goodbye to Noah Jean-Jacques, a visiting Master's student. Noah joined us through the internship program between the University of Bordeaux and VISTEC. He spent almost half a year with us on the growth of 2D perovskites. We wish you all the best and good luck with your Master's degree.

We hosted two speakers from Mahidol University this time. Assoc. Prof. Thanthapatra taught us about supramolecular chemistry and Dr. Khetpakorn gave a talk on molecular design of nuclear spin for quantum information.

We are pleased to welcome two new PhD students to join our team. Roong's research will focus on X-ray detection and Aomsin's work will be on photophysics  and electronic properties of MOCs.

TYCN committee members organized a chemistry board game session at ICCE 2024. Thank you all attendants of all ages and from around the world for coming to play and learn with us during these 2 full days. 

Mook (Khemika Wannakan) joined the group in July 2023 as a research assistant. Her current work is on the photocatalytic application of MOCs.

Congratulations to our group leader, Dr. Paritmongkol, for being selected to join Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers as an Early Career Advisory Board Member (ECAB). He and 37 other young chemistry professors around the world will work with the journal's editorial board to contribute to the development of Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers.

Our group joined MSE's Songkran festival, which took place at the Baanrai Naipol Homestay. On that day, we paid respect (rod nam dum hua) to MSE's faculty members and rejoiced together through Karaoke and the Musical Chairs Game Song. 

On April 2nd, 2024, WAP Lab and the VISTEC community came together to celebrate the birthday of H.R.H. Princess Sirindhorn and VISTEC's 10th Anniversary with a meaningful initiative: "Planting 100 trees for a green and sustainable future".

As a committer member of the Thailand Younger Chemists Network (TYCN), Dr. Watcharaphol (Oat) Paritmongkol served as the MC at the TYCN symposium at PACCON 2024. In this symposium, we had three great events:

1) An award lecture from this year MERCK-CST-TYCN for Sustainable Future Award Winner, Assoc. Prof. Thanthapatra Bunchuay,

2) Rapid Fire Talks from our selected 6 young chemists, and

3) A panel discussion on "Chemistry Horizons: Exploring Diverse Paths in Early Careers" from distinguished speakers - Prof. Javier Garcia-Martinez, the IUPAC president, Assoc. Prof. Anyanee Kamkaew, last-year recipient of the Shimadzu-CST Young Chemist Award, Asso.c Prof. Thanthapatra Bunchuay, this year award winner, and Mr. Sorathep Rattayotsakun, a senior researcher from Siam Cement Group (SCG).

Additionally, Dr. Paritmongkol also presented our recently submitted work on an X-ray scintillator using a metal organochalcogenide (MOC). Hopefully, we will get good news from this submission soon.

We welcome university professors and students from Mahasarakham University to VISTEC. Hope they have a great time seeing advanced research happening here on our campus.

Thank you to Prof. Vinich Promarak and his lab for inviting two inspiring female scientists to our campus. Our team had the opportunity to listen to two excellent talks and learn about the intricacies of solar cell materials from two experts in the field.

Our group started the new year by hosting a guest speaker, Dr. Alexander Hernandez from ETH Zurich. He gave a seminar talk on 'Metal-Organic Chalcogenides: The Next Generation of Optical Materials?' and a tutorial on 'Plasmonic Coupling through Surface Structuring.' What is so admirable about him is his in-depth knowledge of chemistry and physics, despite his training as a mechanical engineer. Thank you, Alex, for showing us an example of how to pursue your passion without boundaries. His story will surely inspire our students at VISTEC.

Our group leader, Dr. Watcharaphol (Oat) Paritmongkol, delivered a research talk at the 8th Thailand International Nanotechnology Conference (NanoThailand 2023) with the overarching theme of "Nanotechnology for a Sustainable World." The conference, organized by The Nanotechnology Association of Thailand in collaboration with the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), aimed to explore the applications of nanotechnology across diverse fields to advance sustainable development. It served as a dynamic platform for the exchange of technological knowledge, fostering discussions, and sharing the latest research and innovation progress in the field.

Dr. Watcharaphol (Oat) Paritmongkol gave a talk on our research at the VISTEC-Kyoto University Joint Symposium (https://vistec-kyoto.mse.vistec.ac.th/). Other speakers at the event are prominent professors from VISTEC, Kyoto University, A*STAR, Chulalongkorn University, and Prince of Songkla University, including Prof. Susumu Kitagawa and Prof. Atsushi Wakamiya.

We extend a warm welcome to Belle (Kattika Seemork) and Four (Achawee Dangkongko), our newest additions to the research group as Ph.D. students. Belle's research will focus on the fabrication and characterization of hybrid materials, while Four will engage in the synthesis of AgSePh crystals. Both Belle and Four officially joined our team in October 2023, contributing to the expansion of our group.

At this moment, we are gathered for a celebratory dinner, marking the first time we have come together outside the institute. Here's to our growing team and the collaborative journey ahead! Cheers!

Greetings and welcome new Ph.D. students! We are delighted to announce that First (Petcharaphorn Chatsiri) and Joy (Chanisara Chooseng) officially joined our research group in June 2023. First will focus on property tuning and single crystal growth development in Metal-Organochalcogenides (MOCs) and Joy's interest is in perovskite solar cells.

Also, we are pleased to extend a warm welcome to Chip (Wakul Bumrungsan), who has joined us as a research assistant. Chip's research focus will encompass perovskite solar cells and their diverse applications in electronic devices.

Priew (Pimpan Leangtanom) joined the group in May 2023 as a research assistant. Her current work is on the development of nanoparticles and quantum dots synthesis.

Dom (Rattapon Khamlue) joined the group in April 2023 as a research assistant. He will work on the organic modification of MOCs and their applications in X-ray detection.
